You will work closely with a talented, experienced team of developers, designers, trade and lending experts and product owners to build high-quality, scalable, and secure systems.

The role:

The Product Owner – Trade Finance & Lending is a pivotal role within Conpend’s product team, responsible for shaping and delivering innovative financial solutions for global banking clients. This position requires a deep understanding of Trade Finance (including Letters of Credit, Collections, and Guarantees) and Lending (including Credit Origination, Syndicated Loans, and Loan Management) business processes, combined with the ability to translate complex financial workflows into impactful, scalable technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Requirements Gathering & Documentation

• Collaborate with banks, financial institutions, and internal teams to capture business requirements in Trade Finance and Lending workflows.
• Translate regulatory and operational processes (e.g., document checking, risk evaluation, credit approval, disbursement, and repayment tracking) into detailed user stories and functional specifications.
• Conduct user research and testing with Trade Finance and Lending professionals to validate assumptions and refine requirements.
• Apply a data-driven approach to support decision-making and feature prioritization.

Product Backlog Management

• Build and maintain a prioritized backlog reflecting the strategic direction for Trade Finance and Lending solutions.
• Continuously refine backlog items based on market regulations (e.g., UCP 600, ICC rules, ESG lending frameworks) and customer feedback.
• Work with development teams to ensure understanding of domain-specific nuances — such as SWIFT message formats, loan disbursement schedules, and document compliance logic.

Sprint Planning & Execution

• Partner with development teams to plan and deliver increments of Trade Finance and Lending functionality.
• Ensure backlog items are well-groomed, technically feasible, and aligned with sprint goals.
• Provide clarity on business priorities and acceptance criteria, ensuring each release meets operational and compliance requirements.

Product Launch & Lifecycle Management

• Coordinate product releases and go-to-market activities with commercial, support, and implementation teams.
• Monitor product performance post-launch, collect client feedback, and guide iterative improvements.
• Manage the full product lifecycle, including enhancements and decommissioning of outdated features.

Stakeholder Communication & Continuous Improvement

• Act as the primary point of contact for Trade Finance and Lending stakeholders, maintaining transparent communication on roadmaps, delivery timelines, and release content.
• Proactively gather feedback from clients and internal stakeholders to align the product with business needs and regulatory evolution.
• Coordinate with other Product Owners to manage dependencies between product modules (e.g., core banking integrations, document intelligence, compliance engines).
• Contribute to optimizing product processes, agile workflows, and cross-domain collaboration.

Key Results:

• End-to-End Ownership: Define and drive the vision, roadmap, and delivery for your Trade Finance and Lending product areas — from concept through implementation and market launch.
• Domain-Driven Prioritization: Align product backlog and features with the evolving needs of Trade Finance and Lending operations, compliance standards, and customer requirements.
• Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate closely with developers, QA, and business analysts to ensure deep understanding of financial workflows and how features support client outcomes.
• Stakeholder Leadership: Act as the key liaison between Conpend, client business users, and technical teams to communicate priorities, progress, and value delivery.
• Market and Customer Communication: Partner with marketing and sales teams to communicate the business value of features to clients and the market.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; certifications in Trade Finance (CDCS, CSDG) or Lending (ACIB, CLFP) are highly desirable.
• Proven experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst in the Trade Finance and/or Lending technology space, ideally within banking or financial software.
• Strong understanding of:
• Trade Finance: Letters of Credit, Documentary Collections, Guarantees, Sanctions Screening, Document Compliance.
• Lending: Credit Origination, Loan Syndication, Collateral Management, Disbursement, and Repayment processes.
• Familiarity with SWIFT standards, ICC rules (UCP 600, URC 522), and industry frameworks.
• Experience working in agile delivery environments (Scrum or Kanban).
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills across business and technical audiences.
• Analytical, data-driven mindset with strong problem-solving and prioritization abilities.
• Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, and standard product management tools.
